Alice Barnes comments on canape

By Alice Barnes

On page 12 of your Dec. 16 edition you carried an Associated Press story written by James and Morris Carey (Let there be portable bright light). In it the duo wrote:

"At the end of the trail there was a beautiful opening in the canape and the sky was clear and overflowing with stars."

I confess, I became famished at the thought of those little treats but I am not sure I would have enjoyed them as well with those overflowing stars. Was your proof reader indulging in a little too much egg nog?

The last time I looked they had dictionaries in the bookstores, not far from the cooking books section. I suspect you could have found more canapes in both sections.

This is the point where the writer wishes everyone holiday greetings and saves on postage. Just stay away from those star-filled canapes at the office party.
