Fire burns in County park

A fire in Junipero Serra County Park burned less than one acre Wednesday, fire officials said.

According to Division Chief Ron Lavezzo of the Millbrae Fire Department, the fire off of Crystal Springs Road was reported at 5:10 p.m. and controlled around 5:45 p.m.

Grass was burning on a steep, rugged slope in the County park, Lavezzo said, with enough trees and brush to prompt a second alarm.

Firefighters from around the Peninsula helped fight and clean up after the blaze, he said.

No firefighters were injured and no structures were threatened.

California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection investigators are looking into what started the fire, Lavezzo said.
