BART stopped by malfunctions
By StaffBART service between Colma and Daly City ground to a halt Thursday morning when two serious mechanical failures stopped trains for more than two hours, a BART spokeswoman said.
At 6:25 a.m., a track-switching problem kept trains from running between the Colma and Daly City stations, said Vicki Wills, a BART spokeswoman. BART began running buses to ferry passengers between the stations shortly after.
At 7:40 a.m., as train service was beginning again, a train broke down just outside the Daly City station with one passenger aboard, Wills said. Service was again suspended between the stations until just after 8:30 a.m.
BART began running train service again at 8:35 a.m. and reported no problems Thursday afternoon.
