State Plea For Pedestrian Assistance
By Alice BarnesGood afternoon,
It is our understanding that on the first of January AB2522 went into law establishing a Pedestrian Safety Account for use in California. We are in dramatic need of improvements to our crosswalks, etc here in Caliifornia and wonder what procedure we should follow with your assistance to obtain funds to make necessary improvements.
In particular we need several improvements along El Camino Real. Because that is a state road we appear to be blocked in restoring a vital pedestrian crossing between San Bruno Avenue and Angus. On our residential streets we need a number of curb cut ramps for our monility impaired. You and staff can see our problem posted on our website http://www.sanbrunobart.com/ under "mobility problems."
We are also in dire need of safety improvements along the four Caltrain crossings within San Bruno. We have been trying for years to get things done but all we do is tally more deaths in our community. On our website at "Caltrain News" you can read the 40 safety improvements we are requesting, all of which cost money, funds we might be able to acquire through the Pedestrian Safety Account.
We are available to discuss these issues with your staff and to provide a personal tour next time you are in the district. My number is 650-abc-defg. Thanks.
Alice
