Lempert: Arnold killing high-speed rail?
Sue Lempert - 05/14/2007
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is killing all chances of high-speed rail becoming a reality for Californians while at the same time declaring he is for it, although not right now. His actions speak louder than words. The governor has asked the Legislature to slash all funding for the High-Speed Rail Authority except for a token amount which would keep six people in a small office. If the Legislature agrees, environmental and engineering work will be derailed and the high-speed rail bond slated for the November 2008 will be postponed indefinitely.

Caltrain gates are down for a good reason
Gary Richards - 12/29/2006
Q: The Caltrain accident in October in Redwood City shows the need for trains stopped at the station to not trigger the gates and lights if they are just standing at the station. It seems to people in a hurry that there is no reason for the gate to be down. So, they run around it. I have missed trains on the other platform for that reason and it is really upsetting.
