Train kills woman in Burlingame
By Staff
A trespasser who was struck by a train in Burlingame on Friday evening was killed by the impact and service has been affected systemwide, a Caltrain spokeswoman said.
The collision occurred about 6 p.m. when the victim attempted to cross the street north of a pedestrian crossing that is north of the Burlingame station, said Caltrain spokeswoman Christine Dunn.
The No. 373 train hit the trespasser, who train riders were told was a female, as it was traveling north from the Broadway station in Burlingame.
The train was stopped and by about 6:50 p.m. riders were told they had the choice to get off the train if they desired.
Dunn said no trains were being allowed to travel in either direction between the San Francisco and Hayward Park stations.
The incident occurred one hour before a Burlingame High School football game a block from the Burlingame train station was scheduled. |
