Delays linger for Caltrain after freight train derailment
By Steve Rubenstein

Caltrain service was delayed for up to half an hour this morning while crews repaired track in San Francisco that was damaged in a freight train derailment, a Caltrain spokesman said.

Trains in both directions were forced to share a single track to get around the site of the derailment at Paul Avenue, where eight Union Pacific freight cars fell over shortly after noon Thursday.

The cars have been righted but workers were still repairing the twisted rail, spokesman Jonah Weinberg said.

Service was expected to return to normal in time for the afternoon commute, he said.
