Electrical shock causes man's injury
By Mark Abramson

A construction problem was cited as the reason a man was shocked at the Burlingame Caltrain station on Thursday night, Pacific Gas & Electric officials said.

A fence the man was touching was apparently electrified by materials related to an ongoing construction project at the station. A street light circuit damaged by the work electrified the materials, said PG&E spokesman Joe Molica.

"As a precaution we had to de-energize the line and perform an investigation," Molica said. Roughly 3,100 customers lost power at 6:49 p.m. when the line was turned off, but power was restored by 10:30 p.m., he said.

According to police, the injured man was reported down at about 6:40 p.m. and an officer had to drag him away from the fence. At least one witness reported seeing smoke coming from a nearby tree.
