Caltrain crossing to undergo fixes
By Aaron Kinney

The Broadway Caltrain crossing will be closed between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. through Monday while construction crews replace worn-out elements of the intersection.

Motorists and pedestrians will have to detour around the closure using Oak Grove Avenue, California Drive or Carolan Avenue.

Caltrain service will not be delayed over the weekend, though all trains in both directions will operate on a single track during construction. Crews will install new concrete pads on the ground worn rails, ties and ballast.

Passengers waiting to catch both northbound and southbound trains at Caltrain stations in Burlingame and San Mateo will board from the northbound platforms. Conductors will make announcements to remind riders to use the northbound platforms.

People who live near the tracks may hear construction noise. Portable light towers powered by a diesel generator will be in use while the work is performed. Crews will attempt to work as quickly and quietly as possible to lessen the disturbance to nearby residents.
