By Staff
A train struck and killed a pedestrian in San Mateo Monday afternoon, according to Caltrain officials.
Caltrain spokesman Jonah Weinberg said a person trespassing on the tracks was struck and killed by a southbound train just north of the Hayward Park Station about 3 p.m.
It is not known whether the death was a suicide, according to San Mateo police, who said the incident did not take place at a grade crossing.
The San Mateo County coroner's office was working to identify the body.
Caltrain service was initially stopped, then delayed for several hours during the police investigation. |
