Bike parking lot for Caltrain riders debuts
By Staff

San Francisco's first freestanding, attended bicycle parking facility will hold its grand opening this morning, according to the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition.

Transportation officials and sustainability advocates will launch the event, which starts at 11:30 a.m. Caltrain Board Member Jose Cisneros, Municipal Transportation Authority Executive Director Nathaniel Ford and San Francisco County Transportation Authority Executive Director Jose Luis Moscovich will be in attendance.

The new 1,600-square foot facility will provide free, safe bicycle parking to Caltrain's ridership. It will be operated by Warm Planet Bikes and can accommodate more than 130 bicycles at a time, according to the coalition. Warm Planet Bikes will also offer repair services for a fee.

The ceremony will take place at Caltrain's Fourth and King streets station. The actual bike lot is around the corner at 311 Townsend St., according to the coalition.
