BART considering beverages on commuter trains
By Staff
The Bay Area Rapid Transit is the easiest way to get to work for many commuters, but it's a tough place to drink a cup of coffee on the way there.
BART's board of directors is considering easing up on the no-beverages rule.
The board agreed this week to look into relaxing its food ban on cars for passengers who would buy BART-licensed "sippy" cups that are designed to prevent spills.
The reusable plastic cups were designed for toddlers, but they've caught on among adults who do not want hot coffee or sticky soda in their lap while traveling.
The first four BART stations to test the sippy cup kiosks will open in downtown San Francisco by the end of the month and another four will open later. |
