BART Announces Transbay Tube Drill
By Staff
OAKLAND--During the early morning hours of this Sunday, March 28, BART, the Oakland Fire Department and the San Francisco Fire Department will hold an emergency drill in the Transbay Tube. Because of Transbay Tube security issues, this event is closed to the public.
However, BART does want to alert the media that between the hours of 4:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. they will likely hear emergency-related radio traffic on their scanners. BART also wants to alert drivers and residents around the West Oakland and Embarcadero BART stations that may see emergency crews converging on a mock scene.
This Sunday's drill is the first of many BART will hold this year to coordinate communication methods between various agencies and to hone emergency preparedness skills.
BART expects the drill to be over by 7:00 a.m. Regular Sunday BART service will begin at 8:00 a.m. |
